Birkenstock sizing: Are my feet too big for the size I bought?

I purchased a size 36 (because that's the size when the sales girl measured my foot) regular Gizeh sandals. 36 is my usual size (that's US size 6).

When I wore them after 1 month, my feet look as if they've grown bigger. The space between the front of the footbed's edge and my big toe (which is the longest toe) is about 2 to 3 mm. Do I buy size 37 narrow for my next pair or be measured again?|||Sure, why not?

Physics Center of Mass Problem Help Please!?

The Great Pyramid of Cheops at El Gizeh, Egypt, had height H = 147 m before its topmost stone fell. Its base is a square with edge length L = 230 m. Its volume V is equal to L2H/3. Assuming that it has uniform density = 2.20脳103 kg/m3, find the original height of its center of mass above the base.|||H/4. Simply.

If you also have the second part to find the work then it

requires you to find the mass by using the density formula (D = m/v). Solve for m. Then use mgh. With h being your center of mass from part 1.That's it. My answer was to the 12th power so don't worry if your answer is big.

What is the function of the great sphinx of gizeh?

Hi. It was a perfect shape to build out of the wind eroded hill.|||Some say it points to certain alignment of stars, involving Leo and Orion, some 10,000 years ago.

With some foundation stones weighing upwards of 200 tonnes, there are only a few cranes in the world that could build the thing today. Duh! Ancient Egyptians had some very fancy anti-grav and other technology.

Jehovah's Witnesses, how much did Russell's astrology play in deciding 1914 was the date of Christ's return?

In 1903, just a few years before the date you claim Christ returned invisibly Russel wrote, “When Uranus and Jupiter meet in the humane sign of Aquarius in 1914, the long-promised era will have made a fair start in the work of setting man free to work out his own salvation, and will insure the ultimate realization of dreams and ideals of all poets and sages in history.” (Watchtower, May 1, 1903, p. 130-131; p3184 Reprints)

As he stated it would be a "ultimate realization of dreams", is this where you got the teaching about Christ's return?

I know this is an old publication but the date of 1914 that you hold so dearly in your teachings was arrived at by Russell just 11 years earlier through his study of the stars and and the great pyramid, and this date still stands today.

Just as an estimate, how many of Russell's teachings from the 1800s and early 1900s do you reject or accept today? 90% reject, and 10% accept? What is your estimate?

Just a little more about Russel's work.......

"In the passages of the Great Pyramid of Gizeh the agreement of one or two measurements with the present-truth chronology might seem accidental, but the correspondency of dozens of measurements proves that the same God designed both pyramid and plan..." See ya!|||you bet it did.|||I just had to respond to you after reading Abernathy the dulls answer. I found it so funny and ridiculous.

So is he saying the May1st watchtower is different (contradicts ) the article you quote ? then goes on to say W.T publications don't say that today -what an admission to make !

The funniest bit from him is about early JWs saying quirky things ..if its truth its..truth is truth -- can you or any sensible person understand what he means ?

Not once did he say truth comes from Gods word ony but if they said it was truth is must be truth.

Then finishes off by saying JWs today hold a different position about the truth !

If you have ever had a one on one conversation with JWs ( like I have done ) you will find after a while they will start talking like this.

Just a note on Russell and his study of the great pyramids their is evidence that he was a 33 degree Freemason which would explain his obsession with this and Egyptology.|||1914 is a biblical prophecy, quite complicated, every time I need to explain it, I gotta go look at the references again but you know what? Forget about that, forget about Russell and his "astrology". Let's try to use the rest of the Bible and some common sense.

The "end of days" was supposed to start when J.C would return and when the devil would be kicked out of the heaven and come down to earth and start creating even more chaos because at that time he would know it wouldn't have much longer to live, so far we agree? The Bible says so in Matthew 24: 3-14 and Revelations 12: 9-12. Now look at how the end of days are described in Matthew 24 and tell me if it doesn't describe with exquisite precision the era in which we live in, let's take a few example of what it says: "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places." (V6, 7). If this doesn't describe our era more than any other era...I mean, of course they had been wars before, of course they had been earthquakes before, and famines as well...but nobody can argue that it just went crazy from 1914 on. Wars and famines in the 20th century alone (from 1914 on) caused more damaged than it had caused in the history of humanity combined before that. And who can forget the recent series of earthquakes? So all of that, coincidence? i think not.

Also, V12 says: "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold." Yeah, that describes out era alright. i mean, just read the whole thing and you will realize it describes exactly the era in which we live, as well as 2 Timothy 3: 1-5. So wherever Russell got that date, I think he was spot on.

edit: dude, you do realize that's not the point right? of course origins matter, you want the explanation to that prophecy? I mean you don't need it from me anyways, if you have access to Watchtower Library then you can look for it your self can't you? So why you asking? You just tryna bash on us and then you expect something from us? come on. besides, it's funny how you skipped the whole thing I said and just focused on what you thought was wrong. Why don't you focus on the topic of discussion instead??|||They just don't seem to believe it when Jesus says that NO ONE knows the time or the hour except the Father. Bible chronology is much like believing in Hollywood's films and making a religion built on a myth much like ancient Greek mythology. The Jehovah's Witnesses built a religion around a false concept in Bible Chronology that mere man predicts the "second coming" or as they like to say "presence" of Jesus. They made the prediction in 1876 that in 1874 Jesus' was present HERE ON EARTH but it was INVISIBLE. Prediction dates came and went and changes were made due to an error (right) in the math. But still no Jesus, but they say NOW, that Jesus was not really here but he turned his attention towards earth and took up his Kingly duties in 1914. Six different explanations and changes to the very meaning of "Generation" and date changes and so forth to fix problems or put the finger in the damn until a better explanation came alone. It it always did in the form of "new light" progressive truth or new truths, in other word different excuses to cover up the lie that perpetuated beyond their own understanding. So for now they have to protect the lie until a different excuse can be formulated to explain away the lie but until the Day of the Lord they just disown it and cover it up.|||The May 1st 1903 Watchtower tells a different story than the one you are trying to push, namely, that the quotation you provide is in fact also a quotation from another source, and not a product of any Watchtower writer.

Basically the article says: "We don't agree with astrology, but isn't it interesting that some astrologer said this about 1914 . . . "

Of course it was wrong for them to quote an astrologer. No JW publication would do that today. But JWs have always known that there were a few quirky things in earlier Watchtowers, things to be ironed out (but nothing to match the grotesque quirkiness of Christendom). At the time, the Bible students' position was "If it's the truth, it's the truth, regardless of the source." That is, in fact, a true and logical statement, since the truth is indeed the truth. However, it doesn't work that way in the real word, and there are concepts such as "political correctness." You have to be careful with what you say and how you say it. JWs hold a different position now, and do not quote from such sources.

I don't know how anyone could attribute this to Russell. For one, Russell wasn't the sole writer of Watchtower articles - there were other contributors. Second, your quote was an acknowledged quote in quotation marks in the original article. Either you're being willfully deceiving, or someone else presented this quote to you and you didn't check the source.|||Every family has somebody who does crazy things because they do not know any better. I forget what religion(s) Russell had before forming the Bible Students, but like all people, he brought baggage with him as we all do.

The good part is as they learned what the Bible really teaches, they made the necessary changes instead of holding on to doctrines just because his forefathers believed them.

It is amazing that they still wound up with the correct year. Doing the Bible math for when the Gentile Times would end, it is exactly 1914. It was evident looking back, that all the world changed in that year. World wars instead of local ones. Earthquakes drastically increasing in volume and scale. Food shortages and planet wide diseases spreading despite modern technology. This gives evidence that by that year Jesus had been given his throne and accomplished the act of kicking Satan out of heaven, down to the earth. Certainly evil and destruction picked up drastically.

Just as certainly, it must have had Jehovah's backing to get that right despite his dealing with astrology and such. We know now,as they learned shortly after, that astrology is one of the things Jehovah is very against as were other hold over beliefs they all had at that time all just beginning to come out of bondage to false religions.

Humans must gradually learn things. Not get a brain dump like a computer. We just do not operate that way. That is why both Jesus and Jehovah are patient with us. Allowing the small mistakes that can and will be corrected later to pass by. Just as Jesus still used his disciples despite their humans failings, so to Jehovah has used Russell and the movement he started at the time Jehovah wanted it started and ready to move at a coming time.

1914

The end of this world, Christ's literal return, the end of Armageddon and latest possible date for rapture. Jews expected to return to God's favour.

"Present truth" until the end of 1914, but replaced by 1915 from around 1912 to Aug 1914 (start of WWI, which was felt to somehow fulfill the above prophecies about 1914).

1914

Christ's invisible return, start of reign as King, end of last days. "Gentile times" ended, but this has no visible effect, except an (JW-imagined) increase in violence, wars, pestilence, earthquakes and other calamities since that year.

Current JW doctrine. From 1922 this was held to be start of Christ's *reign*, from 1930 also the start of invisible presence (earlier held to be 1874). [Note 2] Until recently, the WTS taught that some of those who experienced the events in 1914 would be alive to see the end of the world. This "1914 generation" doctrine was removed in November 1995. See WT 11/1 1995 p17. The "Creator's promise" about the end of the world before the 1914-generation died was removed from masthead (p4) of Awake! in 11/8 1995 issue. Whole idea of "generation" in Mt 24:34 being specific individuals is now abandoned.

1915

The end of the world. From ~1912 until start of WWI this year replaced 1914 in Russell's writings, since 2520 years from 606BC ends in 1915 not 1914 as Russell had thought. The fact that there is no zero year was "forgotten" when some events happened in 1914. In 1943 the idea that had been promoted in SiS7, namely to move Jerusalem's destruction from 606 to 607BC, was officially adopted (The fact that Jerusalem according to Bible chronology fell in 587BC does not interfere with Watchtower chronology.)

Year abandoned after start if WWI

1918

False religion, especially Christendom, to be destroyed. Demons would enter the minds of clergy, the "swine class", causing them to do stupid things that provokes "the masses" to destroy them. "Church members by millions" thus killed by God. SiS7 p1|||wow...I did not know about the 1989 prediction. Of course, I left that cult a year later so I had my own worries to deal with.

When I was a follower (for 31 years), we were spoon fed as to how we were to respond to false prophet allegations about the organisation (from its beginning all the way till present day).

If memory serves me right...the "new light" has gotten brighter and brighter so the modern day GB know not to make anymore claims of prophecy. But I wonder what happened in 1989?? hmmmmm

Anyway, when I was in...we were highly discouraged from doing our own investigations...the Watchtower even said that the internet sites were from apostates and satan controlled apostates. They used every threat and innuendo that they could think of.

It took me years, after I was df'd, to have the guts to go to the internet to do my own searching. WELL!! Were my eyes opened...I went on legit sites (not run by "apostates") and I could not believe that the roots of the cult are based on nothing but false predictions!! Not only that...but the roots of the organiization is based on deep astrology and numerology.

This made me realize why the leaders are so interested in dates...and figuring out events from Jesus time to now. And the only "proof" they have for dates and predictions is that they are supposedly "God's channel."

So any active JW will say their religion is not based on false prophecy...but anyone that did a non-biased search will realize how they are so mistaken with their opinion.|||ok wait... all you people are asking these questions to Jahovahs Witnesses... i htought they couldnt get on computers or have birthdays or anything... why would you ask them questions?|||JW is false religion.|||They are never allowed to answer questions that have not been vetted.

They live life in misery and falsehoods.

The only time I have seen one happy is when they where doing a gang bang and knocking up another Kingdom Hall.|||A false prophet is a person who claims to speak on behalf of God but then gets it wrong. In Old Testament days, a false prophet was to be stoned to death. Jehovah's Witnesses protest that they have never claimed to be a prophet, yet they insist they are God's sole channel of communication, and only they have the truth:

1921 - Studies In The Scriptures, Volume 7, page 236: “In 1878 the stewardship of the things of God, the teaching of Bible truths, was taken from the clergy, unfaithful to their age long stewardship, and given to Pastor Russell… Then, in 1881 he became God’s watchman for all Christendom, and began his gigantic work of witness.”

However, in 1979 an article in the 1 March Watchtower (page 24) discredited Russell: “In this regard, however, it must be observed that this ‘faithful and discrete slave’ was never inspired, never perfect… Things published were not perfect in the days of Charles Taze Russell, first president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, nor were they perfect in the days of J.F. Rutherford, the succeeding president. The increasing light on God’s Word as well as the facts of history have repeatedly required that adjustments of one kind or another be made down to the very present time. But let us never forget the motives of this ‘slave’ were always pure, unselfish; at all times it has been well meaning.”

The Society then changed focus away from 1878 and from their belief that they would be taken to heaven by 1 October 1914. They said that Jehovah had allowed them to draw a wrong conclusion about their expectations for 1914!

1916 – The Watch Tower 1 February with regard to 1 October, 1914: “This was the last point of time that Bible chronology pointed out to us as relating to the Church’s experiences. Did the Lord tell us that we would be taken [to heaven] then? No. What did He say? His Word and the fulfilments of prophecy seemed to point unmistakably that this date marked the end of the Gentile Times. We inferred from this that the Church’s ‘change’ would take place on or before that date. But God did not tell us that it would be so. He permitted us to draw that inference; and we believe that it has proven to be a necessary test upon God’s dear saints everywhere.”

They then declared that Jesus chose them to be his ‘faithful and discrete slave’ in 1918. Publication ‘Light For All Mankind II’ page 348: “In 1918, three and a half years after his [Jesus] enthronement, he cleansed Jehovah’s spiritual temple, as represented on earth by the congregation of anointed Christians.”

Watchtower, 15 July 1960, page 436: “…finally cleansed by a fiery test by 1918, the matured ‘slave’ as represented by a remnant now stood ready for new assignments of service.”

Watchtower, 1 March 1981, page 24: “Beginning with Pentecost 33 C.E., and continuing through the 19 centuries since then, this slave-like congregation has been feeding its members spiritually.”

So, when the 'faithful and discrete slave' gets it wrong, then it must be because Jehovah is allowing them to draw the wrong conclusions. After all, they said they were never inspired, never perfect, just well-meaning folks who make mistakes. Good job we no longer live under the Old Testament Law.

If bible students are held responsible for considerations in study

that is not given in religious belief systems as most of them

think the time in the bible is the age of the earth and is proof

that they have less than a clue what the bible is all about, then

why is one more to blame than the other, ignore something or

try to figure it out, which is best? Abandoned means man did

I don't know what to do ! Has anyone else ever had this problem ? And how do I fix it ?|||OMG !!! That is too funny I can imagine the sound. Try putting some powder on your heal or whole foot , where ever the suction is created. This might lessen the contact.

FOR JW"S... The Great Pyramid......?

An examination of early Watchtower literature reveals that the Witness leaders once believed that the Great Pyramid of Egypt contained prophetic wisdom from God. Indeed, Charles Taze Russell was convinced that God had purposely designed the pyramid as an indicator of the end times. The pyramid was likened to a “Bible in Stone.” In Studies in the Scriptures, Russell wrote, Then measuring down the “Entrance Passage” from that point, to find the distance to the entrance of the “Pit,” representing the great trouble and destruction with which this age is to close, when evil will be overthrown from power, we find it to be 3416 inches, symbolizing 3416 years from the above date, B.C. 1542. This calculation shows A.D. 1847 as marking the beginning of the period of trouble; for 1542 years B.C. plus 1874 was the chronological beginning of the time of trouble such as was not since there was a nation- no, nor ever shall be afterward. (Stud in the Script. 1989 p. 124)

Watchtower leaders now admit that the 1874 date was wrong.

Following Russell’s death, the pyramid doctrine continued to be taught by the WTS. For those who don’t believe this, consult the May 15, 1925, issue of The Watchtower magazine in which it reads of the pyramid: “Its testimony speaks with great eloquence concerning the divine plan.”

It wasn’t until 1928 that J. Rutherford renounced this “Bible in Stone” doctrine. This means it was taught for 50 years before they discarded.(1879-1928)

In 1928 the WTS began calling it “Satan’s Bible.” The Watchtower mag. Issue of November 15, 1928 p. , reads, “It is more reasonable to conclude that the great pyramid of Gizeh, as well as the other pyramids thereabout, also the sphinx, were built by the rulers of Egypt and under the direction of the Devil… Then Satan put his knowledge in dead stone, which may be called Satan’s Bible, and not God’s stone witness.”

* Did you know that C.T. Russell and the WTS in its early years said the Great Pyramid in Egypt was God’s “Bible in Stone,” then later changed their doctrine and now call the Great Pyramid “Satan’s Bible” ?

* How do you reconcile this with the Watchtower’s claim to be a true prophet of God and “channel of truth’?

…and yes I have scanned the Watchtower issue to my comp. where the WTS have made the claim they are God’s Prophet/Channel of truth. I can send it too you.|||I find this very interesting , of course they will use the "light gets brighter" line.. but if you have a direct line to GOD as the WT%26amp;TS claims .. then the informaiton would not every be contra to the orginal beliefs.. and if Truly the "light gets brighter" then open debate and discussion would be incouraged ..

QUESTIon is open debate encouraged in the Kingdom hall|||Many others believe that..not just JW's. They don't have a patent on that believe.

Isaiah.19:19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.|||It is true that JW's have adjusted their thinking on matters through out history, especially in modern times. JW's will be the first to admit they were wrong in their viewpoint. They feel as the understanding increases, and this may call for an adjustment in our teaching. What do you think of this band?

Esfinge de Gizeh are a "blackened heavy folk metal" band from Venezuela who's lyrical content(in Spanish of course) is based around ancient Egypt-not surprising when you learn that the lead singer/keyboardist is an Egyptologist herself. The vocals, all done by the(if I may say)lovely Carolina Ankhesa Davis switch from traditional black metal growls to clean singing, and I actually prefer her growls over her clean singing, although she is a good clean singer. I feel the keyboards are a bit heavy in some parts, but for the most part it's actually refreshing.

Jehovah Witnesses Help?!?

*I only want Jehovah Witnesses to answer this. If you are not one, I don't care what you have to say. It's very annoying receiving useless answers stating irrelevant things or your "opinion", it's not even an opinion, it's use time consuming complaints or really mean things. Seriously. Get a life, and I know some people only answer so they can spill out their heart's desire about some mindless crap**

If you are a JW, please continue. Mind you, I'm asking these because I want to clear out questions I have about my religion. I believe in Jehovah, of course.

1) So it is made clear that you can recognize a false prophet or false religion by it's "fruits" Now, is it talking about the fruits of the religion, or people? Many religions have a written documentation that the people use as a guide. So the "fruits" is it referring to the actual written religion or the people that are members of that religion? For example. a religious book would say "No killing" yet it's people kill. Or the book would say "You can kill those against you" and the people don't really kill, or it can be both "Kill people" and the people kill. So this is confusing, if the book says good things, but the people don't represent it, would this be a fruit? How about the book says bad things and the people either do or don't do it? Say, if one Jehovah Witness was an axe murderer would this mean the whole religion is false? No, but it's still a fruit. (The reason why he/she killed was unknown) Or the bible said you can kill, but the JWs are pacifists. Is this a fruit? The bible said to kill. So, this is what was confusing me.

2) The deaths of the people that didn't get transfusions isn't a bad fruit, right?

3) Matthew 24:3-3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Is this talking about Armageddon, or 1914?

4) Is the WT forward or against the pyramid? These two quotes seem to go against eachother.

"It is more reasonable to conclude that the great pyramid of Gizeh, as well as the other pyramids thereabout, also the sphinx, were built by the rulers of Egypt and under the direction of Satan the Devil...Then Satan put his knowledge in dead stone, which may be called Satan's Bible, and not God's stone witness." -The Watchtower, November 15, 1928 p. 344

They are programmed, pre-wired to have an answer for everything; just not God's truth is all.

Charles Taze Russell was obsessed with Egyptian pyramids, didn't you know? He was the first president and founder of the cult (JW's) and he based all of his false predictions of Armageddon based on the measurements (the numeric sizes) of these pyramids.

I found out so much after so many years as a witless, and now I have removed myself. There is so much that they don't tell you when you first become involved. The biggest hypocrites.

Not sure why you're asking them for the truth. They are incapable of supplying it.|||Hello Ricola Manayu! Answering your question on the net is not sufficient enough.

If you really want to now the truth, i encourage you to have a formal study of what the Bible really teaches. You investigate the scriptures just like one lawyer which is a Jew. Jehovah will certainly help you. At Isaiah 41:10, Jehovah God said, "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness."

Good day Ricola.

Was the JW 1914 prophecy based on Egyptian symbolism?

The founder of the Jws, CT Russel aparently had an obession with ancient Egyptian symbolism and the pyramids. He used his calculations of the pyramid in Gizeh to tie in with bible prophecy as shown below. He even had a pyramid placed as a memorial to him on his death.

How can a man, the founder of the JW Christian religion use such means to justify his calculations of 1914, and why would he?

This is not a question to offend I want to to find out the answer.

So, then, if we measure backward down the "First Ascending Passage" to its junction with the "Entrance Passage," we shall have a fixed date to mark upon the downward passage. This measure is 1542 inches, and indicates the year BC 1542, as the date at that point. Then measuring down the "Entrance Passage" from that point, to find the distance to the entrance of the "Pit," representing the great trouble and destruction with which this age is to close, when evil will be overthrown from power, we find it to be 3457 inches, symbolizing 3457 years from the above date, BC 1542. This calculation shows AD. 1915 as marking the beginning of the period of trouble; for 1542 years BC plus 1915 years AD. equals 3457 years. Thus the Pyramid witnesses that the close of 1914 will be the beginning of the time of trouble such as was not since there was a nation -- no, nor ever shall be afterward. And thus it will be noted that this "Witness" fully corroborates the' Bible testimony on this subject..." (Charles Taze Russell, Thy Kingdom Come, Studies In The Scriptures, vol. 3, 1910 edition).

Please explain|||You are correct in your research of the "discovery" of the times. This IS how the date 1914 was chosen.

And the pyramid with the Masonic symbols of the cross %26amp; the wreath are true, I am only a stones throw away from this piece of JW history. |||Jehovahs have twisted daniels words to the point of hilarity. that mention a great tree...that represented God 麓s kingdom that in ancient times were represented by the jews`s kings

The bible compare goverments with trees...(Ezekiel 17:22 and Revelation 7:1-2)

during 7 times or what it is the samer 2520 years that goverment would be without a king

the jewish lineage of kings was removed 607 B.C.E...and until 1914....the span time is 2520 years ...after that Jesus was set in heaven as a king...

You can see that in Revelation 12....the ook of Revelation was written about the thing that will happen in the future...the future of the apostle John...or our present

the book of Revelation 1:1 began saying that the thing written in this book are about the future...not the past...so Jesus still wasn麓t set by annointed king...cause we can read that in CH12..

1914...the year that this human society began to crack...accept it or not ...it doesn麓t matter the pieces of the cracked system are falling and are so evident.|||Many prophecies from different sources say that this is the time when humanity is as far away from God consciousness as we can get.

I expect the JW's think that their prophet and his mystical experiences is right for them. imo They are not the only ones who may be right.

I do think that we have passed the worst and over the next 20 years there will be an awakening of our individual divine connection. I believe that helping each other and forgiveness is God's plan ie Love.

Calculus II Problem-How many laborers would have been required to construct the pyramid?

The Problem: Suppose that it took 20 years to construct the great pyramid of Khufu at Gizeh in Egypt. This pyramid is 500 feet high and has a square base with edge length 750 feet. Suppose also that the pyramid is made of rock with density ρ = 120 lb/cubic foot. Finally suppose that each laborer did 160 ft/lb/hour of work in lifting rocks from ground level to their final position in the pyramid and worked 12 hours daily for 330 day/year. How many laborers would have been required to construct the pyramid?|||In order to do this, assume that the only distance that each laborer has to do is carry the rocky material up to the required spot in the pyramid.

Consider the amount of work that is required to move a slice of pyramid of height ∆x x units up to it's required spot. First, note that the weight of the block is:

Weight = dV = 120V,

but we don't know the volume of the block. To find the volume of the slice, note that the cross-sections of a square pyramid are squares. To find the length of the sides of the particular square cross-section at a height of x, we need to use similar triangles. Create two triangles: one by dropping a line from the apex to the center of the base and drawing a line from the center to the base to the midpoint of one side, and one by dropping a line from the apex to the middle of the cross-section and connecting the center to the side of the pyramid (this is a lot easier to see if you draw this out). These two triangles are similar, so:

(w/2)/(5 - x) = (750/2)/500 ==%26gt; w = 15x/2.

Thus, the area of the cross-section is:

A = s^2 = (15x/2)^2 = 225x^2/4,

and it's volume is 225x^2/4 * ∆x.

The weight of this cross-section is:

weight = density * volume

= 120(225x^2/4)∆x

= 6750x^2∆x.

This is the required force to move this slice to the required place. The block needs to be moved x feet, so:

dW = Fd = 6750x^3∆x.

Integrating from 0 to 500 gives the required force to construct the pyramid to be:

W = ∫ 6750x^3 dx (from x=0 to 500) = 105,468,750,000,000 ft-lbs.

Now, each worker can do 160 ft-lb per hour, so he can do 160*12*330 = 633,600 ft-lb of work per year, so 105,468,750,000,000/633,600 ≈ 166,459,517 laborers would have been required.

I hope this helps!|||This was wrong the integral was...120(750-1.5y)^2y dy from 0 to 500. But thanks for trying.

Jehovah's Witnesses. Pyramids - Christian or pagan?

If you pick up a book with a pyramid on the cover, would you expect the contents to be Christian or pagan?

If they're trying to corroborate the Biblical date for Armageddon from measuring a pyramid, would you think it is a Christian thing to do and that God approves, or pagan to be frowned on?

Do you think God used the pyramids as his stone witness, and encoded Bible prophecies in its measurements. Or more likely to be Satans bible?

Or is it that it used to be ok, but new light subsequently declared it wrong. If so, what changed about the pyramid to make these differences?

My birkenstocks are so painful ... any advice?

Hi,

I wore my Gizeh thong Birkenstocks for the first time for about 7 hours with 3 hours of walking/standing time. Initially it was okay. But by the end of the day, the middle of the soles of my feet were burning a bit and were very painful once I was home and walking about barefoot. It was almost as if they were "bruised" which could be given that the middle of the slipper is very hard.

Also, I have flat wide feet (just as a note).

Please let me know if this is normal. I never see this sort of pain online, most ppl had heel pain which I dont have.

Thank you.|||No shoes should ever hurt. If they do, they have the wrong size and/or shape for your feet.

Mild pressure is expected until the shoe molds itself to the foot, but no more.

What you're encountering is caused by the poorly shaped footbed of your Birkenstocks. They're just not designed for people with wide feet.

Breaking in Birkenstocks?

Hi I recently boght someBirkenstock snadals for the first time, the Gizeh style, they are SO uncomfortable, I have a blister on the sole of my foot from the rasied bit at the front. For some people they feel comfortable immediately, for others it does take some time to break in. I just got a new pair of gizeh birkenstocks and I fon't know how to clean the bottom, it's suede. |||Do you mean the bottom of the shoe or the insole? The insole is suede; the bottom is rubber or plastic. You can clean the suede with suede cleaner and a suede brush. It's going to get dark and dirty no matter what. Do Birkenstocks tend to run large or small?

Do I buy size 37 narrow for my next pair or be measured again?|||Is there a size 36 1/2 or is there just 37? if its 37 then you can grow into tthem. As you get older the more you grow. So your feet probably are growing. Don't be afriad to tell the person that measured your foot, what happened, this is important because you don't just go out and buy shoes for no reason do you? That would be just a waste of money. I hope you take my advice.

Crazy|||I I'm am not mistaken, there is something about Jesus being the Cap Stone in the Bible.

Been a while since I read it. Could be wrong, but don't think so.|||I don't believe stone makes a very good witness. Why don't you try asking it some questions and see what it says.|||It is a place of initiation for adepts and its configuration of rooms communicates to others beings of life on Earth.|||After studying it for many years with both Christian teachers and New Agers,I believe as stated in Ezekial "It is a witness ".My tendency is to believe that Ol' Enoch had a hand in it before the flood as a witness not only of God but as a monument to weights and measures. There's a million things to say but remember ,there are 153 steps up the Grand Gallery inside the pyramid.Remember when Peter pulled out a net of 153 fishes? Why was that # mentioned?|||Maybe, considering it's a giant phallus.

So what do today's Jehovah's Witnesses think about the Great Pyramid of Gizeh?

Years after Russell's death, and well into the 1920's the Watchtower Society continued to teach that Jehovah God designed the pyramid.

"In the passages of the Great Pyramid of Gizeh the agreement of one or two measurements with the present-truth chronology might be accidental, but the correspondency of dozens of measurements proves that the same God designed both pyramid and plan..." The Watch Tower, June 15, 1922, page 187

In the November 15, 1928, issue of the Watch Tower, however, Judge Rutherford reversed the teaching on the Pyramid, now calling it " Satan's Bible " and declaring that persons following pyramid teachings were " not following after Christ";

"If the pyramid is not mentioned in the Bible, then following its teachings is being led by vain philosophy and false science and not following after Christ" ( page 341 )|||The theory of pyramidology actually predates Russell, although he seems to be the first "religious" leader to promote the theory as an intricate part of his doctrine. The earliest pyramidologists to promote the theory in a major way were John Taylor and Charles Piazzi Smyth. The whole concept started because people needed a way of explaining how the pyramids could have been engineered with such primative tools. So, some believed that they were put here by aliens or by God and that they figured profoundly into prophecy.

Russell just took the theory and ran with it. In fact, he called it "Jehovah's Witness" in his book, "Thy Kingdom Come" vol. 3 (1913), long before the group he spawned adopted the name for themselves. What most JWs don't know is that his 1914 date came from his mathematical calculations based on measurements of the internal passageway of the Great Pyramid and that he forced Daniel 9 to back up this date by altering the date from which he began counting 2,520 years. Rather than starting with the historic date of the destruction of the temple of Jerusalem by the Babylonians (586 BCE), he changed it to 607 BCE--a complete inaccuracy but it modified the prophecy of the 70 weeks enough to make it fit his 1914 date.

Naturally, since Rutherford later denounced the theory, current JWs know none of this. The few that might will tell you that it falls under the context of "New Light", the typical cop out reply.

The real reason for Russell's apparent fascination with Pyramids is his connection to Freemasonry, which holds the pyramid symbol in high regard, such as the one on the back of our dollar bill. It is all rooted in the occult of ancient Egyptian mysticism, which element Russell adopted into his new religion.|||I am not up to speed with the subject , but I must say what a refreshing change it is to see a religion admit a mistake and change their teaching accordingly in the search for the truth.

A sign they are apart and ahead of the rest.|||There ..There Nina..

Jehovah God used some forty writers over a period of sixteen centuries to provide us with his Word. Is it reasonable to conclude that even before Moses began to write the Pentateuch God caused a massive structure to be built that was to corroborate his Word? Rather, is it not an insult to God to hold that he felt it necessary to corroborate his inspired Word by some mute edifice? And that its meaning should be hidden from man for several thousand years and revealed only at a time when the structure had been robbed of all its external beauty?

Further, is it reasonable to hold that God would direct the construction of a building covering thirteen acres of ground, consisting of 90 million cubic feet of quarried stone, with stones as much as thirty feet long and estimated to weigh as much as 880 tons each, when all such work had to be done by slave labor? The very fact that the memory of the invading Shepherd kings who constructed these pyramids was so detested by the Egyptians for generations afterward would certainly put the building of the pyramids in the class of Pharaoh’s building program rather than that of King Solomon.

Besides, if the Great Pyramid were built at God’s command should we not expect to find some reference to its construction in God’s Word, the Bible? The Bible tells us of the building of Solomon’s temple and that built under the direction of Governor Zerubbabel; also of the building of a water aqueduct by King Hezekiah, yes and also of the building of the tower of Babel, but not a word about any of the pyramids. Relevant to this argument also is the fact that none of the structures described in God’s Word employ the design of a pyramid.|||I have to disagree with my friend Pestie, in that it is nor refreshing to God..Being misrepresented as the only spokesman for God on earth, when nothing could be farther from the truth (no pun)

What would you have them to say to defend their false prophecies...The outstanding difference between the Witnesses and other mistakes made by Christianity is the Witnesses Claim to be God's only Prophet on earth..for this, they are condemned.

I find there are a lot of witnesses taking liberty with you, calling you Hon and Babe and darling...How unchristian..it just underlines their disrespect for women.|||you keep deviating the main topic, all JWs know that information where do you think our eemies got that information from our own books darling.

the point is not that if you make a mistake you are false, you are false if you watching something in the bible and you see you are believing is wrong and you keep saying the same.

THE MAIN TOPIC of Jehovah´s witnesses is that Jesus will rule this planet and transform it in a paradise and humans are going to live in there ?

Is that false? if is not false cause can´t prove it with the bible then all the church that says the opposite are giving wrong information and if they dont´change that teaching then they are false despite of they use "Jesus Jesus" that is not proof of anything according to Jesus (Matthew 7:21-23)

For example you know that all angels are sons of God casue you saw it in the bible in the book of Job 1:6 If I ask you "are sons of God the angels? " and after seeing in the bible you denied that then you are false otherwise you are in an error but not false.

now your group are supporting Mitt Romney's campaing how

can you talk about cult when your group are supporting one that different as JWs have another book cause every single JWs can prove you exactly the same even trinity as a false concept with your own bible, oh Nina you are so deluted.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071023/ap_o…

Funny Unsilenced Lamb you insulted me and told me "BAS...RD and you are questioning "darling"|||Charles Taze Russell plainly and repeatedly expressed his faith in the bible as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. It is true that Russell (and thousands of sincere non-Witness theologians in the late 1800's and early 1900's) believed that the dimensions of the Great Pyramid served to "echo" much of the prophecy which was entirely communicated by the bible itself.

Russell did not believe or teach that the Pyramid (or any pyramid) produced or channeled any mystical force, or channeled any two-way communication with heaven. He (and others, including non-Witnesses) simply believed its dimensions had significance to Christians and corresponded with the bible.

Russell's ideas about the significance of the pyramid's dimensions were wrong but not pagan. Interestingly, the bible plainly indicates that even the apostles made mistakes which were sometimes communicated for decades before being corrected. For example, the apostle Peter enjoyed remarkable privileges in the early congregation, but it seems that he was the source of an incorrect teaching about the apostle John; John himself finally corrected that wrong idea about 98 C.E., with his gospel.

(John 21:21-23) Peter said to Jesus: “Lord, what will this man do [that is, the apostle John]?” Jesus said to him: “If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you? You continue following me.” In consequence, this saying went out among the brothers, that [the apostle John] would not die. However, Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but: “If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you?”

Of course, Jehovah's Witnesses have always acknowledged that C.T. Russell had a central role in re-establishing true Christianity in the 1870's. Yet Witnesses have never pretended to be followers of Russell any more than they pretended to be followers of Paul or Apollos or Cephas or of ANYONE but Christ Jesus. When seven million Jehovah's Witnesses preach from door to door each month, they work to preach the "good news about the Christ".

(1 Corinthians 1:12-17) What I mean is this, that each one of you says: “I belong to Paul,” “But I to Apollos,” “But I to Cephas,” ...Paul was not impaled for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? ...Christ dispatched me, not to go baptizing, but to go declaring the good news

http://watchtower.org/e/jt/index.htm?art…|||Pestie58 made an excellent point. His answer is exactly the way I felt when searching for the truth.

When I started studying with Jehovah's Witnesses I heard and even read alot of the information on the Internet about certain things they believed at one time. But as they studied the scriptures they made the necessary changes.

They were humble and realized they were wrong and made the changes.

A perfect example of this would be that they used to celebrate Christmas.

They no longer observe this day.

At one time Jehovah's Witnesses were allowed to smoke. But we all know that is a defilement of the flesh so no Active Jehovah's Witness smokes now.

These are the things that stood out to me.

That again they were humble and changed.

Other Religions are to prideful to make changes.

Sheol and Hades, we all know that means the grave. From those Hebrew and Latin words comes the English translation hell.

But false religion put a twist on it and says that it’s a place where you will burn forever !!!

We all know that is not true.

Other Religions refuse to use God's personal name in worship and that is very wrong !!!

I could go on and on with examples.

The point is it does not matter that there are lots of links on the internet that attack Jehovah's Witnesses and their beliefs because any honest hearted person that studies with Jehovah's Witnesses will admit that they teach the truth from God's Word the Bible.

In time Jehovah will make this very clear to all. Jesus Christ loves his Father Jehovah and we know how Jesus felt about his Father Jehovah.

So in time Jehovah and his Son Jesus will set matters straight.|||WTB%26amp;TS continue to hold the 1914 doctrine and have added Eve to their formula!! They claim not to know when Even joined Adam.

They will be changing this to 1947 or thereabouts to be in agreement with "the establishment of Israel as a nation" as soon as it is obvious that there is no one alive born "in or before" 1914.

Most of today's followers of the WTB%26amp;TS have no idea of the false prophesies and the track record of the WTB%26amp;TS.

This date was set based on "pyrimidology" and continues to be defended by the WTB%26amp;TS until another "NEW LIGHT" is put forword by the WTB%26amp;TS.

Understand they change a little here and a little there over a great deal of time so many do not recognize the the sheer number of alterations and flip flops.

The newer JWs accept the changes as "new light" and do not realize that the WTB%26amp;TS is just another false prophet.
